KNCU-IYC-4301 CHEORWON 07.08-17.08 ENVI/MANU/KIDS (11) VOLS
During the Korean War, Cheorwon was one of the most hard-fought fields in the peninsula. The ecology school where campers will stay is inside the area where civilians are restricted making Cheorwon a paradise for migratory birds. (Large plains and pure nature untouched from humans serve as a perfect place for many endangered birds and wild animals to survive.)
The Korean Association for Bird Protection invites campers to participate in activities that are connected to themes of environment and peace. Programmes to inspire the local community to preserve the environment will be organized. Through various programmes volunteers will experience division situations directly and think about the environment with the local children.

KNCU-IYC-4302 GWANGJU 07.08-17.08 SOCI/KIDS/STUDY (11) VOLS
The Gwangju Youth Service Center is a community organization dedicated to the activation of youth participation in the community. The center promotes volunteering and provides social activities for local youth. The Center is located in the city of Gwangju, which is the historical site of the May 1980 civilian uprising against political repression and martial law in defense of justice, democracy, human rights and freedom.
W: Campers will take field trips to historic sites in Gwangju related to the civilian uprising, meet local students and engage in human rights issues that continue to confront the community. Activities may vary by situation.
A: Campers will be housed together in nearby learning center buildings. The sleeping bag and mat are not necessary.

LO: Gwangju is a city located in the southwest side of South Korea.

KNCU-IYC-4303 SEOUL 07.08-17.08 CULT/KIDS (11) VOLS
The International Mongolia School(IMS) provides primary and secondary education to over 90 students, all of whom are the children of Mongolian nationals living and working throughout Korea. The IMS's curriculum focuses on teaching Mongolian identity, as well as English and computers. Campers will visit IMS to experience and observe how their school embraces the coexistence of multiple cultures. Through field studies campers will examine what aspects multicultural communities offer a society.
W: Participation in multicultural events in Summer schools will take place and campers will interact with the Mongolian students. The School looks for volunteers who are willing to teach and introduce activities from their home country, such as games, songs and dance.

KNCU-IYC-4304 ANSAN 07.08-17.08 CULT/STUDY/SOCI (11) VOLS
Wongok-dong district in Ansan city, located in Gyeonggi province is known as the 'Borderless Village'. Forty thousands migrant workers live in 'Borderless Village', so it looks exotic due to signs written in different languages. The Ansan Immigrant Center promotes human rights along with legal and social reforms for migrant workers. Volunteers are going to meet people in the 'Borderless Village' and take part in the efforts to transform 'Borderless Village' into a true multicultural society.
W: Interacting with migrant workers and children, campers will work in the center and shelter.
A: Campers will stay in the shelter building. The sleeping bag and mat are not necessary.

LO: Ansan is located about 20 miles southwest of Seoul.

KNCU-IYC-4305 INJAE 07.08-17.08 ENVI/STUDY/MANU (11) VOLS
The Korea National Park Service is a management authority that aims to promote nature conservation and visitor satisfaction. The organization carries out various park management projects, in cooperation with respective local communities, for the sustainable use and conservation of Korea's national parks. Campers will assist in activities around Seorak National Park.
W: Campers will take part in various hands-on activities at Seorak National Park, one of Korea’s most-visited mountain park, and engage in intensive ecology- and environment-related discussions and study.
A: Campers will stay in the Mountain Shelter. The sleeping bag and mat are not necessary.

LO: Injae is in Gangwon Province in the north-eastern part of South Korea.

KNCU-IYC-4306 YEONGDONG 07.08-17.08 ENVI/KIDS/CULT (11) VOLS
Mulggo Free School is an alternative school located in an agricultural community in central Korea. The founders of Mulggo did not see the mainstream education system as desirable because it resembles the current world, dominated by a hegemonic culture. The school seeks ways of sustainable living. In addition to their regular studies, the 10 students enrolled at this school experience the wonders of the natural environment surrounding the school.
W: Each year students from different cities visit Mulggo Free School to take part in their summer school programme. Participants will join this regionally-diverse group of students in cultural exchange programmes and organic farming.

LO: Yeongdong County is located in the southern tip of Chungbuk province, bordered by the provinces of Chungnam, Jeonbuk and Gyeongbuk.

KNCU-IYC-4307 WONJU 07.08-17.08 HERI/CULT/AGRI (11) VOLS
Modugol was established in 1988 by a group of clown artists, and is aimed at reviving Korean intangible cultural arts in rural areas. Intended to energize and refresh the local community, activities with this performing group will take place at nearby open-air places.
W: Participants will stage art performances and experience first-hand local performing arts and dances. Visits to local heritage sites and interaction with members of the local community are also planned.
A: Campers will be housed together in nearby residence.

LO: Wonju is located in the center of the Korean peninsula and southwest of Gangwon province.

Choroknara Children’s Library began as a grassroots movement led by mothers in the community that provides children with supplementary education and care. Campers will get together with local people and work together at the library.
W: Participants will cooperate with the library by guiding children and carrying out administrative tasks. They will also participate in cultural activities, interact with the local community, and exchange ideas on the alternative ways to education and care for children with mothers who run the library.
A: Campers will stay in the library and toilet facilities can be found in a nearby church building. The sleeping bag and mat are not necessary.

KNCU-IYC-4309 DAEJEON 07.08-17.08 SOCI/MANU (11) VOLS
Daejeon Youth Shelter in cooperation with Daejeon Health Sciences College holds projects to promote a better understanding of youth and to improve youth alienation problem in the community.
W: Participants will experience practical activities of the shelter and the community youth safety network business. There will also be interaction with alienated youths at the youth shelter so as to understand their situation and discuss ways to promote and resolve their issues.
A: At the College student dorm. The sleeping bag and mat are not necessary.

LO: Daejeon city is located in the center of South Korea, 167.3 km from Seoul, 294 km from Busan, and 169 km from Gwangju.

KNCU-IYC-4310 NAMWON 07.08-17.08 HERI/STUDY (11) VOLS
Namwon Hyanggyo, a Korean cultural heritage site, is a local school annexed to a Confucian shrine that dates back to the Joseon Dynasty. The academy is run by village seniors and continues to offer classes that are open to the local community.
W: Participants will engage in cultural heritage site preservation activities. They will also study the origins of and experience first-hand Confucian tradition and culture.
A: Campers will be housed together in nearby residence.

LO: Namwon City is located in Jeonbuk province.

* Please note that all KNCU camps are organized under the 43rd International Youth Camp(IYC) programme held for 11days. The 43rd IYC schedule has gathering sessions in Icheon, Gyeong-gi Province before(for 4 days) and after(for 2 days) the camp included in its 11 days. Campers will participate in workshops related to the theme of each camp, evaluation session and cultural exchange programmes.
